Centre Avenue and Pleasant Street Water Mains Abington & Rockland Joint Water Works

Overview

Environmental Partners was retained by the Abington & Rockland Joint Water Works to provide engineering design, permitting, bidding, and construction phase services related to water main improvements for Centre Avenue and Pleasant Street. The Centre Avenue project included the installation of:

• 3,830 linear feet of 12-inch ductile iron water main
• 50 linear feet of 8-inch ductile iron water main
• 475 linear feet of 6-inch ductile iron water main
• gate valves, hydrants, and water services

• 1,720 linear feet of 12-inch ductile iron water main
• 60 linear feet of 8-inch ductile iron water main
• 150 linear feet of 6-inch ductile iron water main
• gate valves, hydrants, and water services

Approach

Environmental Partners prepared publicly bid construction documents, and provided bidding and construction management services for the project. Since portions of the work were within Massachusetts State Highway, the work was carefully coordinated between the contractor, Abington & Rockland Joint Water Works, and the Massachusetts Highway Department.

Solution

The Centre Ave. and Pleasant Street Water Main projects were bid and constructed separately. The Centre Avenue project was completed October 10, 2006, and the Pleasant Street work was completed January 10, 2007. Environmental Partners provided on-site resident inspection and kept the project on schedule and within budget. The project work was coordinated with Abington & Rockland Joint Water Works operations to minimize disruptions to the water system.
