“We congratulate Lauren Underwood on passing the April 2018 Professional Engineering Examination. Lauren began at EP in May 2013 and has been steadily working towards her goal of passing the test, working on a wide range of water distribution and pump station projects.” Principal Ryan Trahan shared upon announcing the exciting milestone.
Lauren has spent the last 4 years leading up to her eligibility to apply to become a registered professional engineer “working for Environmental Partners, a company that has continued to impress” Lauren stated. She added “I have always looked up to the leaders of this company, many of which are PE’s, and I continue to do so. These role models have demonstrated and have made it very clear what a P.E. truly is, and the professionalism, intellect, and dedication to the field of Engineering that comes with the designation. For me, it was an easy decision to move forward with the licensing process.”
And for her peers within and outside of EP, whom Lauren continues to encourage and help develop, she reflects on her journey and shares her perspective and encouragement “Although the application and test preparation processes can be very trying and exhausting at times, they are also very rewarding. I felt like I owed it to my company, to the industry, to my peers and mentors, and perhaps most importantly to myself, to substantiate my understanding of the broad topics of Civil Engineering and to prove myself as a knowledgeable engineer.”
When reflecting on this exciting moment, Lauren said “I am beyond excited and very proud to officially be licensed as a professional engineer here in the great state of Massachusetts. I look forward to the engineering challenges of the future, and to serving as a role model for today’s engineers and the engineers of the future.”
