EP is assisting the Chelmsford Water District in developing a system-wide asset management plan using pipeline condition assessment and hydraulic modeling.
To evaluate the risk of water main degradation, EP utilized soil corrosivity, soil acidity, and depth to groundwater table data and contracted Echologics, LLC to analyze pipe wall thickness for each risk category using sonar wave propagation. EP will use the results of Echologics’ field program and the calibrated hydraulic model to assess the District’s water system and develop a multi-year capital improvements plan that balances risk and consequence of failure with the desired level of service.
