ACEC/MA 2012 Engineering Excellence Competition

Judges’ Choice “Small Firm Award” and Silver Award for “From the Ground Up – Creating a Municipal Water System in Wellfleet, Massachusetts”

Dense development and increasing levels of inorganic contaminants in many wells posed public health threats to Wellfleet’s elementary school, the library, Town Hall, restaurants, shops, the critically important marina complex, and residents in the downtown or Central District. In addition, the lack of adequate fire protection posed a constant threat to the Central District.

Environmental Partners Group designed Wellfleet’s new $6 Million public water system in 2007-2008. Construction occurred between September 2008 and October 2010. The project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget, allowing the Central District to remain vibrant, with no impacts on the critical tourism seasons.
