Easton’s PFAS Treatment Systems Update

April 2023

In the wake of the EPA’s new proposed PFAS regulations, EP continues to assist municipalities throughout the Commonwealth, including the Town of Easton, with PFAS treatment and compliance.

In summer of 2022, the Town of Easton began construction for a PFAS treatment system to address three separate impacted groundwater well sites. Construction has been in full swing and is expected to be complete summer of 2023. This project consists of three separate PFAS treatment systems (one at each site) and as of early spring 2023, the Contractor has finished concrete work, erected the metal building framing, and installed the pressure vessels for the treatment systems.

The Town of Easton is now providing PFAS treatment at three of its largest water sources: Wells no.1, 2, and 4R.

EP assisted the Town from the initial planning and water quality study stage to design, procurement, construction administration, and commissioning of the systems. Each of the three wells is now equipped with a media-based PFAS treatment system protected in a heated and dehumidified building. These improvements help the Town provide drinking water that complies with current MassDEP PFAS regulations and the even more stringent proposed US EPA PFAS maximum contaminant levels.
