Pembroke’s New Water Supply Source

Aging infrastructure, poor water quality, and/or increased development and demand means many Towns need new water supply sources.

At the Edgewood Bog site in Town of Pembroke, a pumping test was conducted in 2007. MassDEP approved the new water supply source in 2007 for 0.5 MGD. Because the water supply source was never constructed, MassDEP is requiring that the Town complete the new source approval process. Land development means the Town does not have the 400-foot Zone I; therefore EP is completing the new source approval process for a new water supply wellfield that requires a 250-foot Zone I. EP is conducting wellfield exploration, pump testing, reporting, and permitting. Edgewood Bogs will provide the Town with future water supply redundancy and resiliency.
