The Town of Provincetown engaged EP to complete a comprehensive evaluation of its municipal vacuum sewer system that serves the commercial and tourism center of town.
Over the past twenty years, the vacuum system has experienced system-wide failures from a variety of causes including storm-induced electrical malfunctions, extreme weather and storm runoff, and tidal inundation. EP evaluated transient electrical supply issues; compared system design standards to installed operating conditions; assessed operations and maintenance practices, troubleshooting, alarm monitoring, and emergency response; identified inflow contributions, and reviewed planned upgrades.
EP’s prioritized recommendations will increase the resiliency of the system under all operating conditions, while making the system more resilient to instantaneous disruptions from weather and tidal disruptions.
